SMC DVD330S Trouble Shooting Tips


1. The DVD player says wrong region code:
Follow the region code changing instructions and change the region to 13. Region 13 is the all region code - you will never have to change the region again if you use region 13.


2. The DVD player says

THIS DISC CANNOT BE PLAYED
1. IT MIGHT BE DAMAGED OR
2. MISMATCHED TV SYSTEM

You will get this message if you are trying to watch a PAL disc on a NTSC TV or a NTSC disc on a PAL TV. You need to follow the correct PAL and NTSC changing instructions on the SMC page. These instructions will have to be followed every time you want to watch a different system disc on your TV, e.g.. every time you want to watch a PAL disc on an NTSC TV or a NTSC disc on a PAL TV. The set-up should take less than 15 seconds once you know the procedure.


3. The disc sticks and will not play or you cannot change the language because the DVD menu features do not work

This is a problem occurs on a small minority of region 2 DVD discs (mainly from France) when you try to watch them on a NTSC TV. You need to:

Change the region coding to 13 for all zones

Change the TV system to PAL (DO NOT CHANGE TO NTSC)

Play the DVD Disc, you should be able to use all the menu options to change the language, subtitles and other settings. (all of the options may be in black and white) Once you have all the correct setting press Play and start watching the movie.

Once the movie is running with your settings change the TV system to back to NTSC, you will now be able to watch the movie in full color.
